Medicare
Medicare is a Federal health insurance program
that is designed for people aged 65 years or
more. You automatically qualify for Medicare
when you become eligible for Social Security.
You may also be eligible for Medicare if you are
disabled under age 65.
There are two parts to Medicare; Part A is the
hospital part that is provided at no charge. Part
B is the supplemental insurance coverage that is
designed to cover Doctors' services and other
medical services Part A does not cover. Part B
has a premium you pay to receive those
services. Although Medicare provides insurance,
there are limitations to the amount of payment.
In addition there are services that have
deductibles. These deductibles can be covered
by a Medicare Supplement policy.

The Medicare Supplement policies, sometimes called Medigap insurance, are
all set up with the same benefits for a given plan. There are twelve plans
available from a number of companies with the only difference being the
premium. Premiums vary from company to company and are based on their
experience with the Medicare Supplement client group. Bernie DeShaw, your
local expert, has a number of companies who will write Medicare supplement
policies.
